Flighty type

I posted a message on the OUSA SXR208 forum today, to the effect that I was a little nervous of booking flights to Mallorca until I get my paper confirmation of my booking through. I quickly had a reply from a lady who said that the gap between reserving her place and receiving the paper confirmation was only about three days. That's good; I would prefer to reserve my flights sooner rather than later as the ticket prices will only go up, not down.

Had something of a voyage of discovery when I started to look through airlines for the best flights. Thomson fly the day before, and also fly back the day before also, so they are out.

Monarch appear not to fly so early in the year, so they are also out.

To cut a long story short, I finally narrowed it down to EasyJet, flying either from Gatwick or Stansted. I don't really want to fly from either if I'm honest, but these look like the best deals. It also appears that because of the flight times, I will have to fly back the day after the course ends, i.e., on the Saturday. That's not ideal but if I want to do the course I may have to accept some compromises.

The other thing I need to do is to work out how I am going to get to and from Gatwick/Stansted. My options are hire a car and leave it at the airport (not really an option, I wasn't put on the Earth to drive myself around), train, or coach.

Train is likely to be pricier but faster, coach will be cheaper but slower.

Going by train has the advantage that I should be able to plug my laptop in to the mains on board, and keep in touch with the world.

My StudentHome page now says that my registration documents for SXR208 were printed yesterday. I look forward to those plopping through the letterbox in a few days.
