Reservations

I tried all weekend to register for the February 2010 presentation of SXR208. I had previously registered for the May 2010 but I withdrew, as I decided that I would prefer to do SXR208 as early as possible, in view of the potential cancellation of the majority of the Open University's residential courses.

All weekend I have been getting a stupid error message, there is an error with the residential school data. What does that mean? Grr.

In the end I did what I ought to have done from the outset, and telephoned the Open University. I spoke to a very helpful chap called Steve, who had a nice South African accent, and in turn he spoke to the residential school team. Apparently it is an error that the course is showing as open for registration. It shouldn't be showing as open until next week.

My plan is to carry 5 days holiday from work over from 2009 into 2010. By attending the summer school in Mallorca on the first possible presentation (20 March 2010), it means that I can use up the carried-over holiday, and I will still have a full compliment of holiday to take off in 2010. This is relevant especially as I am also planning to take SXR207 next year.

I explained this predicament to Steve, who listened very patiently to me rambling on. He suggested that once I have been able to enrol next week, I should call the residential school team, and make sure that I get a place on the school I want.
