On the move

8.16am. Arrived at London Euston without a hitch, walked straight off platform 18, up the ramp, across the concourse, down the escalator, and onto the platform of Euston underground. Within 30 seconds a Tube arrived, which took me without a hitch to Victoria. Walked off the Tube at Victoria, up the escalator, then up a small flight of steps to Victoria train station.

As I was walking into the station concourse, I could already hear an announcement about the Gatwick Express leaving from platform 13. Had a brisk walk along the platform to find a quiet carriage, and at 8.15am the train left.

I'm sitting facing backwards, which isn't my usual preference, but it means I can keep an eye on my luggage. I can see the London Eye in the distance, and the gherkin building, getting smaller. It's all tower blocks to my left, Victorian black and mustard brick to my right. I wouldn't want to live in this neighbourhood.

Just gone through Clapham Junction without incident. I'm very glad that all the escalators were working, it has made travelling across London a breeze.
