Organised chaos

Ten days to go until Mallorca. Despite having months to look forward to this course, I feel completely and utterly disorganised. Normally by now I have organised something to death.

What is not helping is that I have the pre-school assessment for SXR208 (this Mallorca course) due in 7 days, my TMA01 for MST121 (Maths) due in 14 days (whilst I'm away), and TMA01 for S282 (Astronomy) due in 9 days (the day before I go away).

At this rate, I may end up completing the maths TMA whilst I'm in Mallorca, leaving a stamped addressed envelope with Alan, and asking him to post it! It's not ideal, because he'll have to get a Certificate of Posting, but I'm sure I can impose on his goodwill.

Both of the TMA01s must be submitted by post, they cannot be submitted electronically. This means that I basically must post the astronomy TMA in no more than 7 days (it's one-quarter completed), and the maths TMA on the same day (it's half completed).

Inbetween doing all that, I have to find time to read through all of the project background materials. I'll only have to do four of them, but I don't know which ones I've been allocated yet.

I have completed 24 out of the 28 questions on the pre-school assessment, so that's not so bad, but inevitably, all the really gitty ones are left.

Still, I don't feel quite as disorganised as Kirsten, who revealed today just how disorganised it is possible to be. She told me via Facebook: "haha you are not going to believe this but I haven't even booked my flight yet."

She intended to fly from Gatwick. I checked this evening to find that seats on my outbound flight are a whopping £164.99, and the return is £82.90, a total of £247.89.

Although this is expensive, this is apparently the cheapest available that she has been able to find, and she suggested I buy her a stiff drink at the airport! I was not convinced this is my fault but I'll happily buy her a drink in the departure lounge. Within minutes of this conversation however, she came back and said that the last seat had gone, and she doesn't think she'll be able to go. This is bad news for her indeed.

I only paid £93.79, and that was with the taxes on top. I guess it literally does pay to be organised sometimes.
